Keeping Current

Rule

It is an exciting time for patients with CRC and nurses who care for them

  • Recent advances in CRC tumor biology and development of effective new agents are rapidly changing the management and treatment of CRC
  • The 40-year-old gold standard-fluorouracil plus/leucovorin-is being replaced by newer and more effective combinations
  • Treatments are being customized to smaller patient subgroups
  • Supportive care options that minimize therapeutic invasiveness are expanding, and patient outcomes are improving.
  • But the addition of new therapeutic options poses challenges for patients and nurses

  • Patients must consider the growing menu of treatment options and make decisions about which of the available therapies is best for them
  • Nurses must be sufficiently knowledgeable to provide individualized education, guidance, and support for their patients as they make these often complex decisions. Finding time in your busy schedule to study the relevant literature, interpret the newest findings of clinical trials, and integrate new knowledge into practice is not an easy task.
  • Our goal is to lighten the burden for and with you so you will have more time to spend with your patients.
