Intended Audience
This continuing education activity is designed for oncology nurses and pharmacists at the generalist and advanced practice level who care for patients receiving EGFR inhibitor therapy and other health care professionals interested in this topic.
Overall Purpose
This program is designed to provide up-to-date information and easily applied clinical tools that will ensure familiarity with emerging EGFR inhibitor therapeutic options and integration into clinical practice. This knowledge will enable oncology clinicians to optimize outcomes for patients undergoing therapy with EGFR inhibitors.
Learning Objectives
After participating in this knowledge-based activity, participants should be able to
- Differentiate among EGFR inhibitor agents with regard to targets, indications, and side effect profiles
- Explain the current evidence related to EGFR testing and molecular markers
- Describe the current guidelines for the management of rash associated with EGFR inhibitors alone and in combination with radiation therapy
- Develop a plan of care for the patient experiencing toxicities associated with the use of EGFR inhibitors
- Formulate an education plan for patients receiving EGFR inhibitors
