7th Edition AJCC Cancer Staging Manual

The American Joint Committee on Cancer (AJCC) released the 7th Edition of the AJCC Cancer Staging Manual in October 2009; use of the new staging criteria went into effect on January 1, 2010. Further information on the 7th Edition, including links to order the new manual, is available on the AJCC Web site at http://www.cancerstaging.org/

Selected 7th Edition chapters and related materials are available in PDF format for download here (see list on right side of page.)
Chapter 14: Colon and Rectum can be downloaded here

An electronic staging (e-Staging) tool will be available during the first quarter 2010. The e-Staging Tool is HL-7 compliant, making the integration of patient-specific data into existing electronic health record systems as smooth as possible. Users in a paper-based environment will also find the e-Staging Tool useful, as it will also calculate stage, incorporate predictive and prognostic factors and print out a PDF of a patient-specific Staging Form. (The e-Staging Tool replaces the Word document templates that were available with the sixth edition.) The application is web-based and patient confidentiality is not compromised. The application is compatible with all major EMR/EHR systems and both PC and MAC operating systems. PDA applications will be available second quarter 2010.

A compendium of teaching media to familiarize clinicians with cancer staging in general, and the 7th Edition changes in particular, is available through the AJCC Web site at http://www.cancerstaging.org/staging/index.html.
